Aldehyde C-18 is a fragrant liquid that has a sweet, fruity, coconut-like scent. Also known as coconut aldehyde or gamma-nonalactone, it is not a true aldehyde. It is soluble in ethanol, most fixed oils and propylene glycol, while insoluble, or practically insoluble, in water.
It is commonly used in perfumes and flavorings to give buttery, creamy, coconut notes. Applications range from odor masking products to coconut flavored candy.
Aldehyde C-18 is synthetically produced without the use of genetically modified organisms. This product is GHS non-hazardous and meets Food Chemical Codex requirements. It is also Kosher certified.
Aldehyde C-18 is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with a coconut-like odor.
