Coumarin is an aromatic compound with sweet vanilla, cinnamon, hay like scent. The Fragrance industry uses this in the blends for finished goods. The personal care and perfume space also uses this product. It is banned as a food additive due to its high toxicity causing liver damage.

Characteristics

Coumarin has a distinctive sweet, almondy-hay scent. It is a colorless powder with a pleasant, fragrant odor resembling that of vanilla beans.

Storage

An unopened container guarantees a shelf life of 3 years when stored under normal conditions. It is recommended to store Coumarin in a dry, 2-8 °C dark/low light environment to reduce degradation. Coumarin has a melting point of 68 °C.
