Ingredi's Propylene Glycol USP/EP is used in the food and beverage industry. Its direct food application consists of working as a carrier for flavor, colors, antioxidants, and emulsifiers. Propylene Glycol helps process the isolation of natural flavors such as with extracting vanilla from vanilla beans. It also works as a humectant and stabilizer in prepared fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. 

As an ingredient in personal care products, Propylene Glycol attracts water and function as a humectant. It is found in moisturizers to enhance the appearance of skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness. It is one of the most widely used ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products. Propylene Glycol is used to adjust viscosity as well as a solvent and fragrance ingredient. It is used in many types of cosmetic formulations including facial cleansers, moisturizers, bath soaps, shampoos and conditioners, deodorants, shaving preparations & fragrances. 


Ingredi's Propylene Glycol USP is manufactured by DOW Chemical. It is GRAS and is not hazardous under Federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200. It is Kosher certified, allergen free, does not contain any plant or animal origins, and contains no GMO. 


Propylene Glycol is an odorless and colorless liquid. It is 100% water soluble at 20°C and is hygroscopic. The substance is made of propylene oxide and water and is stable under recommended storage conditions.
