Potassium Lactate is the potassium salt of natural L(+) lactic acid made by fermentation of sugar. Potassium lactate is used in the foodstuff industry primarily to extend the shelf life of meat and poultry products. It also increases food safety given its antimicrobial properties and inhibits most spoilage and pathogenic bacteria. Potassium Lactate can also be used as a salt substitute for low-sodium applications due to its strong water binding properties and bacterial control.

Characteristics

Galaflow PL 60 Potassium Lactate is a viscous liquid (60% solids) with an appearance that is colorless to slightly yellow. This mono-potassium salt is almost odorless, has a mild saline taste and is pH neutral. It is water-soluble and blends very easily.
